Kindergarten Enhancement Offers a Full-Day Solution to Madison County’s Half-Day Kindergarten Program
94% of Kentucky’s public schools offer a full day of kindergarten. However, Madison County only offers half-day kindergarten. A half-day kindergarten schedule in Madison County Schools lasts approximately 3 hours. Within those 3 hours students are to receive all their classroom instruction in areas such as language arts, math, science, social studies, and extra-curricular classes. In many cases public schools are also allowing time within that 3 hours for breakfast or lunch and recess. As you can tell, it is a lot to fit in! That’s why we offer Kindergarten Enhancement.
Our KE program encourages parents to send their child to Madison County public school kindergarten. Our program is designed to supplement and not replace Madison County kindergarten. Students attend half-day kindergarten in the morning then come to our KE program in the afternoon. In this way we team up with the existing school model in Madison County to offer a full-day option for kindergarteners.
Kindergarten Enhancement Uses and Expands Upon The Same Curriculum Used in Your Child’s Madison County Kindergarten Class
Having students for the second half of their kindergarten day allows us to expand on the same programs that Madison County schools use. We use Literacy by Design and Everyday Math curriculums just like Madison County schools. We also assess literacy with the Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System that is used throughout Madison County.
In addition to the instruction our KE students receive, they also participate in our extremely popular extra-curricular activities. This year we offered dance, art, yoga, and martial arts. Each of our extra-curricular activities is taught by professionals within our community. You can read more about them here. We seek to offer the most well-rounded education available, and unique extra-curricular activities help us to reach this goal. Parents LOVE these programs, kids LOVE these programs, and we love offering them.
Limited Enrollment Provides Individualized Attention Personally Tailored to Your Kindergartener
We have limited enrollment so that we can work closely and individually with each student and establish strong working relationships with our public school counterparts. This ensures that we are collectively making great strides in our students’ achievements.

Kindergarten Enhancement will be offered to students who attend Madison County a.m. Kindergarten. Students arrive at LaFontaine Preparatory School around midday. The exact time that students arrive is determined by the school they are coming from. Students bring their own lunch and begin instruction shortly thereafter. Instruction ends at 3:30. Parents are invited to pick up their child anytime between 3:30 and 4:00p.m.
